We are happy and fortunate to have been nominated for The Sunshine Award by Amber of What Makes me Amber. I visit her blog religiously because I really believe that her recipes are interesting and the dishes that she makes are just oh-so-delicious. She is also very friendly and accommodating to everyone who drops by her beautiful page. Head down to her blog and know what I’m talking about!
Anyway, on to this award. We have shared with you some of our recipes over the past few weeks and we are going to share more of these on the coming days but allow us this one post that will give you an idea about us – when John isn’t wearing his apron and I am not so anxious about giving his cooking some justice via my writing. Let’s consider this post as a little behind the scene.
- Thank & link the person who nominated you.
- Answer the questions asked by them.
- Nominate 11 bloggers.
- Give your nominees 11 new questions to answer.
1.) When you aren’t blogging, you are…
Working on our day jobs! Or maybe reading books. Or working out to burn the food that we are cooking and eating and sharing in this blog.
2.) Where do you find inspiration for your blog posts?
John knows so much about cooking. Sometimes, we only think about the taste of a food that we’ve eaten before and he’ll know how to recreate them perfectly. His dad is a great cook as well. I, on the other hand, visit blog after blog and look for something interesting. When the ingredients are not available here in our country, we try to come up with possible substitutes.
3.) If you were to move far away from where you currently live, what are some things you’d miss?
I think if ever we decide to move from where we currently live, the two things that we’ll miss the most are the following – having our office 5 minutes away from here and having the supermarkets just below our building.
4.) Do you have any plans for the summer?
I think there’s about three outings that we are scheduled to go, other than that we’re looking forward to a summer of endless cooking!
5.) When you were a kid, what did you aspire to be?
Haha, this is a funny one! When I was young, I aspired to be a laundry lady because their hands are always clean from all those laundry. John, on the other hand, once wanted to be a garbage collector because he was so fascinated with operating the garbage machines!
6.) What is your drink of choice when you’re at a restaurant?
I am towards iced tea or green tea, while John is the mango juice type.
7.) Do you speak any other languages?
I know basic Chinese Mandarin and French. John knows Bikol, the dialect in his province.
8.) What is your favorite cuisine to cook and/or eat?
I like eating everything – from the western cuisine, to the Asian ones and down to our very own Filipino food. I think John’s favorite cuisine to cook are the ones which originated from his province. Those food usually have coconut milk and are really spicy. You’ll be seeing more of those on the coming days.
9.) Are you a reader? If so, what is your favorite book?
We both love reading books! As for me, nothing beats The Harry Potter series, but I am also inclined to mystery-filled books. John was speechless when I asked him about his favorite. But there is no John Grisham book that he hasn’t read yet so I’m pointing that way!
10.) What is something fun that you’ve done recently?
Why, starting this blog! It’s just over a month and we are still overly excited about this.
11.) What do you do/where do you go to relax?
We usually just stay at home, oversleep and watch movies. We also go the spa occasionally.
…And that’s it! Now, I am nominating the following amazing blogs:
And here are my questions for you:
- What inspired you to start your blog?
- Where do you see your blog in 5 years?
- What is your favorite food to cook?
- Choose only one: pizza or burger?
- Choose only one: ice cream, cake or cookies?
- What do you do when you aren’t blogging?
- What is your ideal weekend?
- Where do you get inspiration for your blog posts?
- What is your favorite breakfast?
- How do you like your coffee?
- What is your favorite book?
So there! I hope the blog-owners that we tagged will enjoy this as much as we did. We also like to take this opportunity to announce that we now have a Facebook Page. Hello, social media! Visit Rice N Dine on facebook for more updates!
